UNMC welcomes NU corporation secretary for tour

NU Corporation Secretary Katie Hoffman (at left) hears about UNMC's iEXCEL program and its interactive, digital iWall technology from Moriah McCune, community engagement coordinator.

UNMC welcomed the corporation secretary for the University of Nebraska System and her deputy to the med center on May 13 to meet with leadership and tour two of UNMC’s newest facilities.

Katie Hoffman, who became corporation secretary in January, and Vanessa Zimmer, assistant corporation secretary, met with UNMC Interim Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, as well as Vice Chancellors Ken Bayles, PhD, and Jane Meza, PhD.

The visitors also received tours of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and iEXCEL health care simulation program at the Davis Global Center.

During the iEXCEL tour, they met Pamela Boyers, PhD, iEXCEL’s associate vice chancellor of clinical simulation, and Jenni Bouckhuyt, the associate executive director, simulation operations, for the program.

The guests saw iEXCEL’s 3D holographic theater, the program’s new Emerging Technology Lab and its holographic video capability through a new Proto holobox.

Hoffman said she was proud to see an iEXCEL program that is setting the tone and was impressed by all the thought that went into creating the cancer center.

“The innovation, the things that we’ve been shown are just incredible,” Hoffman said. “I honestly can’t wait to see what they keep coming up with.”
