Clarification for employees on additional paid leave

University leadership has granted all leave-eligible employees two additional paid leave days in the coming fiscal year: Thursday, July 3, 2025, and Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025. UNMC Human Resources clarified the process for employees to follow.

Colleagues,

UNMC has received clarification from payroll and HR administration concerning the declared leave for Thursday, July 3:

Employees will need to submit a “Declared Leave” request for July 3 in Firefly/ESS Self Service. (See image below.)
Employees who were required to work due to operational needs, such as public safety, patient care and educational responsibilities, may use “Declared Leave” on another day.
Employees who submitted vacation leave or floating/banked leave for July 3 need to cancel request in Firefly/ESS Self Service before filing for declared leave.
