Symposium on cell therapy research is July 31

The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center

Registration is open for the July 31 symposium on cellular therapy administration in the clinical research setting.

The accredited continuing education activity, titled “Delivering Discovery: Cell Therapy Administration in the Clinical Research Setting,” will be from noon to 4 p.m. in the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, Room 0-12101, or via live stream. The symposium is free, but registration is required by July 24.

Presentations and speakers are as follows:

  • “Introduction to Cell Therapy: How It Started and Where It’s Going,” Matthew Lunning, DO, associate professor in the UNMC Division of Hematology/Oncology.
  • “Biologics Production Facility Considerations,” Scott Koepsell, MD, PhD, vice chair of clinical operations in the UNMC Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology.
  • “Coordination Considerations,” Amy Fitzgerald and Sarah Snook, clinical research nurse coordinators.
  • “Institutional Biosafety Committee Considerations,” Jenna McKenzie, PhD, biosafety officer.
  • “Minimizing Financial Risk” Veronica Hernandez, Lisa Hughes-Potter, Toree Pruett and Lara Uphoff, of the Clinical Research Center.

Supported by funding from the ISCORE (IDeA States Consortium for Clinical Research) Resource Center, the symposium is designed for research professionals who include investigators, nurse coordinators, clinical research coordinators, research finance and others involved in the conduct of cellular therapy trials.
