Dr. Langenfeld appointed residency program director

The UNMC Department of Emergency Medicine has announced the appointment of Jason Langenfeld, MD, as the new residency program director for the emergency medicine residency program at UNMC. Dr. Langenfeld, an associate professor in the department, brings experience and a strong commitment to medical education and clinical excellence.

He succeeds Chad Branecki, MD, who previously led the programn and is credited with shaping its growth and academic rigor. He will continue to play a role in departmental leadership as the vice chair for education.

Dr. Langenfeld completed his residency in emergency medicine at Michigan State University Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies and has been a key figure at UNMC since joining the faculty. Prior to this appointment, he served as the associate residency program director and director of simulation, championing hands-on training and innovative educational practices.

Recognized for his dedication to teaching and mentorship, Dr. Langenfeld has received several accolades, including the National Emergency Medicine Faculty Teaching Award from the American College of Emergency Physicians.

In his new role, he is aiming to further elevate the program’s educational mission, foster a supportive learning environment and prepare residents to meet the evolving challenges of emergency medicine.
