How I fell in love with pharmacy:
While working as a supplemental instruction leader for a chemistry professor in undergrad, I was trying to figure out how to integrate my interests of chemistry and medicine. My chemistry professor introduced me to a community pharmacist in town, and I worked as a pharmacy technician to gain exposure in the field. I quickly found my passion for pharmacy, patient care and advocacy in a small town. I completed my PGY1 and PGY2 training in Grand Island, Nebraska, at the VA, which solidified my love of ambulatory care in a rural setting.
Three things people may not know about me:
- My husband is also a pharmacist, and we met at our UNMC pharmacy school interview.
- I was born and raised in Long Island, New York, but I consider Nebraska home since I’ve spent most of my life here.
- My husband and I love cycling and spending time outdoors with our black lab, Wren, and our son, Clayton. I’m currently training for a half marathon and hope to participate in RAGBRAI in the future.
