Effective Sept. 5, the University of Nebraska will be partnering with TrueConfirm, a leading vendor specializing in employment and income verifications, to handle all verification requests for employees.
The University of Nebraska receives a considerable volume of requests from third parties, including lenders, property managers, pre-employment screeners and government assistance agencies, among others, to confirm current and former employment and income status. Historically, these verification requests arrive by phone, email, fax and postal mail and are directed to human resources and payroll team members for processing and fulfillment.
Effective Sept. 5, TrueConfirm will handle almost all aspects of this process, providing the following benefits:
- Fast, accurate and secure service for university employees and the third-party verifiers that need access to their information.
- Credentialing of third-party verifiers so that only those with a permissible purpose are allowed to confirm our employees’ information. Each employee will be able to authorize the release of their income information when requested.
- Utilization of advanced security and encryption to protect the verification information throughout the entire process.
- Ability to provide verifications 24/7, without the constraint of normal business hours.
The University of Nebraska System’s partnership with TrueConfirm will significantly improve the verification experience for both university employees and the organizations that require employment confirmations. The transition to TrueConfirm aligns with the fifth pillar of the university’s strategic plan: Extraordinary Stewardship & Effectiveness. The University of Nebraska Office of Human Resources is committed to leveraging technology that enhances security, efficiency and convenience — while protecting employees’ personal information.
Data sharing
TrueConfirm will receive the following encrypted and secured employee data from the university: standard employment and income information, home address and the last four digits of the Social Security number. All employees will be initially enrolled for these services to be provided.
- Employees who do not wish to use employment or income verification services, or who prefer not to share their employment information with TrueConfirm, can withdraw from data sharing. Employment or income verifications cannot be completed by TrueConfirm for employees who have withdrawn. To withdraw, employees must open the employment income verification tile in Firefly and check the withdraw box. Employees have until Aug. 29 to withdraw.
- Employees who withdraw from TrueConfirm’s services can re-enroll at any time through Firefly. Once an employee has re-enrolled, the data will flow back to TrueConfirm.
Employee dashboard
University of Nebraska System employees will have access to the TrueConfirm employee dashboard. The dashboard will be available on Sept. 5 at the TrueConfirm website. This tool is not required for an employee to receive a verification but will provide you access to:
- Access your current verification report.
- Enable notifications.
- Manage privacy settings.
- Generate form letters.
UNMC employees with questions about this new service or who need assistance can contact UNMC Human Resources via Suzette Brown, payroll manager, by email and UNMC payroll by email.
