Nebraska Medicine colleagues are mourning the tragic passing of a beloved colleague. Anthony Miller, DNP, a nurse practitioner in acute care surgery, passed away over the weekend after being struck by a car while he was out for a run in Lincoln.
“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Anthony’s family,” said Charity Evans, MD, division chief of acute care surgery (ACS) and professor with the UNMC Department of Surgery. “My earliest interactions with Anthony were bedside with him as a nurse in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Patients adored him, speaking of his attention to detail and compassion. We were so fortunate to recruit him to ACS as an advanced practice provider. Anthony will be greatly missed. The way he cared for his patients and supported his colleagues will be a lasting example for us all for years to come.”
“In his many roles, Anthony was an inspiration to us all,” said Christina Boje, advanced practice providers supervisor, acute care surgery. “He was an excellent provider, a compassionate caregiver and, most importantly, a loving husband and father to his girls. His family was his top priority. We will miss him terribly.”
Dr. Miller is survived by his wife and two young children.
A visitation is planned at Grace Hill Lutheran Church in Elkhorn, Nebraska, today (Sept. 4) from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will follow on Friday, Sept. 5, at 10:30 a.m.
My deepest sympathies for the family, colleagues, and friends of this special young man. I will keep you all in my prayers. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
