After 43 years with the UNMC Center for Healthy Living, Rick Pruch is retiring Sept. 30.
Pruch served as recreation coordinator from 1982 to 2013 and as an administrative business associate since 2013.
Pruch has been a familiar face behind the front desk, checking in members, answering phones, coordinating intramural sports and doing odd jobs around the facility such as painting, moving equipment and groundskeeping.
Over the years, he has enjoyed his many interactions with employees, students and members, and he has built relationships that have lasted decades.
“Rick’s friendly demeanor will be missed by all who interacted with him during his tenure,” said Andrea Swett, director of the Center for Healthy Living.
In retirement, Rick is looking forward to using his extra time to travel and pursue his hobbies. He enjoys visiting National Parks and riding new and favorite cycling trails.

Rick, Congrats and happy retirement and have enjoy the trails!
Rick – congratulations on a long and fruitful career! I harken back to the 80s when we both still had game on the hardwood, and you were the guy who coordinated all the intramural leagues in addition to the old church / gym that we all frequented. It was always good to work with you. It’s been great to know you, and I wish you all the best for a well-deserved retirement. Life is just beginning!
Rick,
Enjoy your retirement. It was always a pleasure to work with you (and complain to you about all my injuries.)
U da’ man, Ricky. Enjoy the next chapter.
Congrats, Rick on your retirement! Thanks for coordinating intramurals. Fun times!
