University of Nebraska System President Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, sent this holiday message to University of Nebraska faculty, staff and students on Monday, Dec. 15.
As 2025 draws to a close, I want to share my deepest gratitude to each of you. I’m grateful for the ways in which we serve our students, our state and the greater world. I’m grateful for the ways we’ve come together in times of challenge. And I’m grateful for the strong shared future we are building across the University of Nebraska.
There have been some disappointments on our journey this past year, but we’ve also experienced tremendous momentum — new partnerships, research achievements, expanded engagement and — at the center of it all — opportunities for students to learn in new ways, discover new passions and pursue the futures they imagine. This work is happening across all our campuses, and our newly attained joint accreditation between UNL and UNMC will only broaden those opportunities.
The odyssey ahead will surely bring more remarkable moments: new discoveries that change lives, collaborations that strengthen our communities and milestones that remind us why this work matters, as well as twists and turns as we forge ahead and build momentum. I invite you to watch the short holiday video below as we continue this incredible journey. I’ve never been more confident in where we’re headed.
