A message from President Gold on additional paid leave

University of Nebraska System President Jeffrey P. Gold, MD

University of Nebraska System President Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, sent this message to University of Nebraska employees on Friday, Dec. 19.

Dear University of Nebraska colleagues,

I’m emailing today to share that Gov. Jim Pillen has announced, in accordance with an Executive Order from President Donald Trump, that Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 26, will be granted as days of leave for state employees, including members of our University of Nebraska campus communities.

As previously communicated, the University of Nebraska had already designated Dec. 23 and Dec. 24 as paid leave days for NU employees. As a result of the Executive Order, leave-eligible NU employees will receive an additional declared day of paid leave on Dec. 26. Because Dec. 24 is now designated as a state holiday, Dec. 29 will be granted as an additional day of paid leave for leave-eligible NU employees.

Employees who are required to work on Dec. 23, 24, 26 and 29 will be paid for the time worked and will receive an additional day of leave for each of those days worked. Essential employees should coordinate scheduling and leave arrangements with their supervisors.

Each NU campus will follow up with additional information.

Thank you for your continued dedication to the University of Nebraska, and best wishes for a safe and restful holiday season.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey P. Gold, MD
President, University of Nebraska System
