The Omaha Community Playhouse is offering discounted tickets to all UNMC students and employees for August Wilson’s “The Piano Lesson,” running Jan. 16 through Feb. 8.
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the fourth in Wilson’s “The American Century Cycle” of plays, “The Piano Lesson” offers a powerful story of family, history and legacy.
In 1936 Pittsburgh, two siblings clash over the fate of a prized heirloom piano, symbolizing their family’s painful history. Wilson’s haunting, luminous play examines themes of heritage, sacrifice and the tension between honoring history and the pursuit of prosperity. It contains mild adult content and themes.
