Dual emblem that says UNMC Nebraska Medicine

Do you know a colleague, leader, faculty member or student who makes a quiet but meaningful impact? Someone who embodies the med center’s ITEACH values and creates a true sense of belonging for those around them?

The med center’s Unsung Hero Awards are a chance to recognize them.

The 2026 Unsung Hero Awards will honor individuals across Nebraska Medicine and UNMC who uplift the community through service, mentorship, encouragement and culturally competent care.

Winners will be celebrated at an awards luncheon on Friday, March 13, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Truhlsen Events Center.

Nominees should demonstrate:

  • ITEACH values in action.
  • Professionalism and a positive attitude.
  • Culturally competent, person-centered care.
  • Dignity, respect and belonging in every interaction.
  • Commitment to this work within Nebraska Medicine and UNMC or externally in the community through volunteerism, service, outreach, mentorship or encouragement

Submit nominations here by Feb. 27. Winners will be selected from four categories: Colleague, leader, faculty member and student.
