How I became interested in medicine: I’ve always loved science, and medicine felt like the perfect way to apply that passion in a meaningful way and make a real, positive impact on people’s lives.

Education:

Medical School: University of Washington School of Medicine

Research interests: Studyingbarriers to healthcare in rural and underserved communities.

Medical interests: I am interested in quality improvement and learning how targeted changes can lead to meaningful, positive outcomes for patients.

How I fell in love with anesthesiology: I love anesthesia because it uniquely blends physiology, pharmacology and hands-on procedures, all while allowing me to make an immediate and meaningful impact on patient care.

Why UNMC? I chose UNMC because I was really impressed during my interview by how down-to-earth everyone was and the strong learning opportunities available. Additionally, my sister is a resident here a few years ahead of me, and her experience gave me a lot of confidence that this is an excellent program in a great city.

Three things people may not know about me

  • I competed at the national level in FFA Milk Quality and Products, an event that involves evaluating and tasting milk, like the milk scene in Napoleon Dynamite.

  • I am passionate about the outdoors and spend my free time hiking, exploring nature, and staying active outside.
