UNMC held its commencement ceremonies on May 7-9 at Baxter Arena in Omaha and other locations around the state.

UNMC College of Medicine graduate and longtime faculty member James Armitage, MD, received the J.G. Elliott Award. Fellow UNMC medicine alumnus James Roudebush, MD, received an honorary Doctor of Science degree for achievement in health care and service to our nation.

In all, UNMC conferred more than 1,000 degrees.

UNMC Interim Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, urged the graduates to keep their eyes on their goals.

“Resilience in the face of uncertainty is the key ingredient to success,” he said. “As you move forward, aim for great things. Setbacks will happen, but setbacks are usually an opportunity to grow, adjust and become stronger.”
