Jess Goldoni, a candidate running to represent District 18 in the Nebraska Legislature, visited UNMC on July 10.
During her visit, Goldoni met with UNMC Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, Jeff Kratz, UNMC’s director of government relations, and other university leaders to discuss UNMC’s role in advancing medical education, research, workforce development and innovation in Nebraska.
Goldoni also toured the Davis Global Center, including the Training, Simulation and Quarantine Center with Dossy Felts, associate director of operations for the Global Center for Health Security.
Kratz led a tour of UNMC’s advanced medical simulation program, featuring the holographic theater, interactive iWall technology, surgical simulation labs and other immersive training technologies used to prepare the next generation of health care professionals.
The visit also included discussions about Nebraska’s health care workforce needs, medical research, innovation and the role institutions such as UNMC play in attracting talent, improving patient care and supporting economic growth across the state.
“I came away incredibly impressed by the people, the technology and the vision,” Goldoni said. “UNMC is training the next generation of health care professionals while helping position Nebraska as a national leader in medical education, research and innovation. Investing in UNMC is an investment in better patient care, a stronger workforce and Nebraska’s future.”
