Every fall, we take steps to prepare for the months ahead. Some of those efforts happen behind the scenes, while others rely on each of us taking a few simple actions that help protect our patients, colleagues, and communities.
One of the most important is annual influenza vaccination.
Getting vaccinated is one way we live our commitment to Zero Harm and demonstrate accountability to one another. It is a simple action that helps reduce the spread and severity of illness and supports a healthier environment for everyone we serve.
This year, our goal is for at least 90% of Nebraska Medicine colleagues and UNMC faculty, staff and students to receive an influenza vaccine and for 100% to document their vaccination status in the Health Tracking System. Colleagues will also be asked to complete their annual tuberculosis symptom review.
Additional details about this year’s influenza vaccination campaign, including vaccination options, documentation requirements and other information specific to Nebraska Medicine and UNMC audiences, will be shared in the NOW and UNMC Today later this week. Please review this information as there are some changes to this year’s vaccination process. For now, we simply want to thank you for the role you play in keeping everyone safe. Your commitment to Zero Harm is reflected not only in the care you provide, but also in the choices you make to help protect those around you.
