Candidate Darin Tompkins, who is running to represent Legislative District 36, recently visited UNMC. District 36 is comprised of western and southern Sarpy County, including the entirety of Gretna and Springfield, and parts of other municipalities. The district also includes a small sliver of Douglas County.
Tompkins visited with Jeff Kratz, UNMC’s director of government relations, and met with UNMC Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD. He also toured the Innovation Design Unit, a living laboratory on the sixth floor of University Tower, where technology, design and patient feedback shape healthcare innovations and solutions.
Tompkins said he was excited to visit UNMC for two reasons:
“First, I have a distinct interest in healthcare and healthcare access in the state of Nebraska,” he said. “Having grown up in rural South Dakota, I know how important that is to our communities.
“Second, I’ve worked in the biotech field. I understand the economic engine this environment brings to our state.”
