UNMC among leading nursing programs

The UNMC College of Nursing offers its BSN program at five brick-and-mortar divisions across the state of Nebraska.

U.S. News & World Report has ranked the UNMC College of Nursing’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs among its top 30.

UNMC’s BSN program tied for 27th in the rankings released Sept. 22 as part of the 2027 Best Colleges report.

“Being ranked among the Top 30 Best Nursing Schools in the United States is a tremendous honor,” said Lepaine Sharp-McHenry, DNP, dean of the UNMC College of Nursing. “It reflects our faculty’s dedication, our students’ excellence, and our commitment to educating the next generation of nurse educators, nurse scientists and nurse practitioners.”

The UNMC College of Nursing has brick-and-mortar divisions across Nebraska, with locations in Scottsbluff, Kearney, Norfolk, Lincoln and Omaha. It offers several tracks within the BSN degree program, as well as advanced practice and doctoral-level programs. The college also provides countless offerings for continuing nursing education.

According to U.S. News, rankings are based on the average of scores from surveys of top academics and officials at nursing schools and departments, who rated the overall quality of undergraduate BSN programs they were familiar with on a 1-5 scale.

To be included and ranked in the standalone peer assessment survey, schools must have bachelor’s-level accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. The regionally accredited institutions must also have recently awarded at least 50 BSN degrees.
