Sometimes, a small gesture of appreciation can create meaningful connections.
The UNMC Office of Campus Engagement will hold its annual “An Attitude for Gratitude” item exchange, during which faculty, staff and students share thoughtful items, learn about one another and spread kindness across the campus community.
In feedback from previous exchanges, participants have described the exchange as fun, rewarding and an opportunity to connect with others across campus.
Through its annual “An Attitude for Gratitude” item exchange, UNMC Campus Engagement has brought faculty, staff and students together to share thoughtful items, learn about one another and spread kindness across the campus community.
Feedback from previous exchanges highlights the joy participants experience not only in receiving an item but also in choosing something meaningful for someone else. Participants have described the exchange as fun, rewarding and an opportunity to connect with others across campus.
The feedback reinforces the purpose behind the exchange: creating opportunities for appreciation, connection and community through simple acts of thoughtfulness. It also has helped the campus engagement office continue refining the experience, including a return to personalized favorites lists that help participants learn about their exchange partners.
Registration for the annual item exchange will be open Nov. 9-12, with participants receiving their exchange pairings and favorites lists on Nov. 16. Items can be exchanged through intercampus mail or coordinated directly between participants through Dec. 4.
UNMC Campus Engagement also will host a wrap-up reception from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3 in the Linder Reading Room, Room 2001 in the Sorrell Center. The reception is open to all UNMC faculty, staff and students regardless of whether they participated in the item exchange.
To participate in the item exchange, complete the registration form by Nov. 12. For questions, email UNMC Campus Engagement at engagement@unmc.edu
