W-2 forms mailed this week to employees’ home addresses

W-2 forms are being mailed this week to employees’ home addresses. Beginning with the 2003 tax year, the University of Nebraska is printing and distributing W-2 forms for its employees.

In the past, the University employees received their W-2 form from the State of Nebraska, and it included wages earned from both the University of Nebraska as well as any other State of Nebraska agency.

The major change is the University of Nebraska now has its own federal and state employer identification number.

Employees should inform their tax advisor of this change and review any automated output from tax software, such as Turbo Tax, to ensure the proper employer information is recorded on the federal and state tax return.

A letter is being sent to each active employee receiving a W-2 form communicating changes that have occurred. With questions, contact the UNMC Payroll Office 559-7460.
