Brad Paisley to give free concert in Lincoln

UNMC students, faculty and staff are invited to a free Oct. 13 concert by country music artist Brad Paisley outside University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Memorial Stadium.

The concert is free but will be limited to about 10,000 people. University of Nebraska-system students, faculty and staff will be given priority admission with a valid campus ID card on a first-come, first-served basis.

The concert will be in parking lot 8, north of Memorial Stadium. Gates are expected to open at 6 p.m., with University of Nebraska Athletics appearances at about 7 p.m., opener Brett Young taking the stage at about 7:30 p.m. and Paisley playing at about 8:30 p.m.

The show is part of Paisley’s “Country Nation College Tour presented by Frontier Communications.” Paisley has already made stops at West Virginia University and The Ohio State University, with additional stops scheduled at the Air Force Academy, East Carolina University, University of Connecticut, University of Kansas and UCLA.

Paisley is a Grammy-winning artist with 23 No. 1 country hits and has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 2001.

Limited $5 public parking for the show will be available on campus beginning at 4 p.m. Areas that will be available to the public include the parking lot west of the Stadium Drive garage, the parking lot by the Champions Club, the parking lot at 10th and U streets, the parking lot west of the 14th and Avery garage, the 14th and Avery garage and the parking areas on Memorial Mall east of the stadium.

Alcohol will not be permitted at the concert or elsewhere on campus. Athletics will have concessions available inside the concert area.

    For the Brad Paisley concert-will there be chairs or bleacher seating or is everyone expected to stand?

    Will people be allowed to bring chairs if there is no seating provided?
