Sen. Bolz met with Vice Chancellor for External Relations Bob Bartee and UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D.

She was impressed by the technology she saw demonstrated at the Visualization Hub.

“What made me look forward to coming was the opportunity to see what’s going to be the norm in the future,” she said. “That’s what’s so neat about an academic research center — you get that first look at what is going to be commonplace in the future.”

Sen. Bolz sits on the state’s budget committee, and she said the most important information from her visit was “that this is more than about the university’s mission, it’s about the statewide economic impact of higher education and academic research.

“What’s so exciting to me about seeing what is happening specifically at UNMC is the potential we have to really grow our biosciences and technology industries in the eastern Nebraska region,” Sen. Bolz said.
