Between class and open gym practices, Creighton University basketball standout Johnny Mathies has spent the past month delivering mail on the UNMC campus.
The senior guard from Louisville, Ky., worked in UNMC Mail Services sorting and delivering mail to Wittson, Poynter, Eppley and Bennett Halls. The summer job is helping the marketing major “earn money to pay for Davis Square (CU’s apartments),” he said.
Mathies was CU’s second-leading scorer last season, averaging 11.8 points per game for the Bluejays. His last mail delivery was Thursday, giving him an opportunity to go home before classes resume.
