Clarkson Tower entrance reopens Monday

The main entrance to Clarkson Tower at the Nebraska Medical Center will reopen on Monday, Nov. 19. It has been closed since the end of September for the final phase of the Orange Parking (Lot 1) renovation project, which will be completed next week.

“We’d like to thank everyone for their patience throughout this project,” said Andy Balus, project management director. “We know it was an inconvenience to our colleagues, patients and visitors, but it was necessary and will improve the experience for those who use Orange Parking. The goal was to complete it before winter arrived and it appears we made it just in time.”

Beginning Monday, valet services for patients will return to its original location near the main entrance. The large white canopy that was placed over the temporary valet services and patient drop off area will be removed next week.

The Orange Parking renovation project started at the end of April. It included significant safety enhancements to the parking lot including pedestrian pathways through the upper lot, new stairwells and better lighting. A new driveway was installed to improve access and the flow of traffic within the parking lot, which includes approximately 375 parking stalls for patients and visitors on the upper and middle levels.

Colleagues parking in Lot 5 across 42nd Street to the east and who were displaced to make room for patients and visitors have already received an email notification from Parking Services with information about when to return to their regularly assigned lot.
