UNeMed’s Headley liaison between inventors, companies

picture disc.Todd Headley has been named director of Technology Marketing and Licensing for UNeMed and serves as a key liaison between UNMC inventors and potential company partners. He also negotiates license agreements that will foster partnerships for the commercialization of the technologies.

Headley joined UNeMed Corporation in March 2006 after working at the Iowa State University Office of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer where he was a senior licensing associate. At Iowa State, he was responsible for managing the process of marketing, commercialization and licensing intellectual property related to the life sciences developed at the university.

Headley’s professional background also includes 10 years of experience in the biotechnology industry where he served in various managerial roles overseeing product development, technology transfer, manufacturing and project management.

Headley is responsible for marketing and licensing UNMC technologies for commercial development and representing UNeMed Corporation beyond the UNMC and Omaha communities. He also acts as a resource for entrepreneurial faculty who are interested in forming a new company for commercialization of their research activities.

Headley received his bachelor’s degrees in microbiology and environmental management from South Dakota State University in 1991 and his master’s degree in business administration in 2000 from Iowa State University. He is a participating member of the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) and the Licensing Executive Society (LES).
