NU President James B. Milliken comments on NU awards

A letter from University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken on the university-wide awards.

Dear colleagues,

One of the highlights of each academic year is the opportunity to recognize outstanding faculty members for excellence and innovation in research, teaching and outreach. This month, we are presenting our most prestigious faculty awards: the ORCA, OTICA, IDEA and Departmental Teaching Awards. These awards are especially notable because each recipient is nominated by other faculty members and selected by a committee of his or her peers. I hope you will join me in congratulating the 2007 award recipients.

Outstanding Research and Creative Activity Award: Dr. Sasha Kabanov, University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Outstanding Teaching and Instructional Creativity Award: Dr. Valerie Cisler, University of Nebraska at Kearney and Dr. Paul Larsen, University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Innovation, Development and Entrepreneurship Award: Dr. Steve Hinrichs, University of Nebraska Medical Center.

University-Wide Departmental Teaching Award: Department of Ag Leadership, Communication and Education, University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

These award recipients join nearly 100 of their colleagues whose excellence in teaching, research and outreach has been honored over the past 30 years. I encourage you to visit our Web site where you can read about the accomplishments of each recipient and view a short video highlighting the work for which they are being honored.

Sincerely,

James B. Milliken

President
