Participants of the Munroe-Meyer Institute’s Adult Social Club recently attended the Nebraska Belly Dancing Spectacular in Omaha where they met belly dancers who gave them a history of belly dancing and showed them some moves.

The club, which meets twice a month to participate in activities such as social dining and dancing, sporting events and swimming, aims to facilitate friendships between individuals on the Autism spectrum and their peers.

The goal is to build recreation social skills in a fun, relaxed environment.

The outings not only provide a social outlet for participants, but also offer respite for parents.
