Chinese consul general visits UNMC

Chen and Tan visited UNMC on Tuesday as part of their visit to Omaha.

Representatives from China’s Washington embassy toured UNMC on Tuesday as part of a visit to Omaha.

During their UNMC stop, Xiongfeng Chen, counselor and consul general of the Embassy of People’s Republic of China, and FuQing Tan, the embassy’s first secretary, visited with medical center leaders, including Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., and Don Leuenberger, vice chancellor of business and finance.

Chen and Tan discussed UNMC’s various collaborations with colleagues in China, including the medical center’s partnerships with institutions such as:

  • Shanghai Jiao Tong University;
  • The Chinese Academy of Science;
  • Xian Jiao Tong University; and
  • The Chinese Scholarship Council.

Chen and Tan lauded UNMC for its efforts to forge such partnerships and offered the embassy’s assistance in making such endeavors as successful as possible.
