At a free, in-person learning session on May 15, colon and rectal surgeon Rishi Batra, MD, and gastroenterologist Peter Mannon, MD, director of the Frederick F. Paustian Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center, will explain:

  • The difference between ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.
  • What causes symptoms like diarrhea, bleeding and stomach pain.
  • How doctors find the source of digestive problems.
  • Treatment options that can help manage IBD.
  • Ways to improve your quality of life with IBD.

Dr. Batra is an assistant professor in the UNMC Department of Surgery, Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Dr. Mannon is the Ruth and Bill Scott Endowed Presidential Chair of Internal Medicine and professor in the UNMC Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

The discussion, which starts at 5:30 p.m., will be held at the Truhlsen Eye Institute, 3902 Leavenworth St., on the third floor in Room 3001.
