The 2025 #WeAreUNMC BBQ and student involvement fair will be combined into a single event on Aug. 27 from 3:30 to 6 p.m.
The BBQ will be held on the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza, and the Student Involvement Fair will be held on the Center for Healthy Living activities courts. Faculty, staff and students are welcome to attend.
Enjoy free food (while supplies last), giveaways (while supplies last), music and backyard games. All are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Volunteers are needed for the BBQ. Positions include event set-up and cleanup, beverage and game stations, giveaway tables and other activities. Shifts vary between 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. To volunteer, sign up online.
Employee resource groups, registered student organizations and UNMC departments/offices are invited to host a table at the Student Involvement Fair. Register online to reserve a table.
Last year, the UNMC Office of Sustainability achieved a zero-waste designation for the first time for this event by diverting 91% of the waste away from landfills. The office aims to match that goal again this year. Join the sustainability efforts by volunteering at the event. Register online to be a sustainability volunteer.
The event is hosted by UNMC Campus Engagement and the Student Life Involvement and Development Office, sponsored in part by Metro Credit Union, GreenSlate Management and Bergman Incentives in collaboration with the UNMC Student Senate, Center for Healthy Living, UNMC Department of Strategic Communications, the UNMC Office of Sustainability and the UNMC Bookstore.
In the case of poor weather, the BBQ will be held inside the Center for Healthy Living.
