Sleep medicine team enjoys permanent home at Oakview

Oakview Health Center

Patients seeking a better night’s sleep will be welcomed at Oakview Health Center, level one.

The Nebraska Medicine Sleep Disorders Center, which had been located at Lauritzen Outpatient Center, and the Sleep Clinic, which was in the Durham Outpatient Center, reunited at Oakview Health Center last year for the first time since 1999.

The Sleep Disorders Center is where patients come for overnight sleep testing. The location offers six sleep rooms and an expert staff with a combined 150 years of experience:

  • Four physicians board certified in sleep medicine.
  • Three advanced practice providers and two fellows who specialize in sleep medicine.
  • Nursing care coordinators, schedulers, coordinators, technologists, medical assistants and a medical receptionist.

“The sleep rooms are cool, dark and quiet,” said Tracy Dunn, manager of the Sleep Disorders Center. “The clinic exam rooms are much more spacious and feature natural lighting.” The unified clinic, she said, gives staff the opportunity to be “learning from each other and building new and stronger relationships.”

The sleep center has been performing sleep studies since 1985. It is an accredited sleep center by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the gold standard by which all sleep disorders centers are evaluated and rated. All of the sleep technologists hold the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist credential, which is internationally recognized, representing the highest certification in the field.
