Editor’s note: Thie message reprinted below was sent Tuesday to all UNMC faculty, staff and students from Interim Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD.
As Thanksgiving approaches, I want to pause and thank you for the many ways you show up for others in our classrooms, labs, offices, clinics and in our communities across Nebraska.
Every day, you bring quiet acts of kindness to your work. You encourage a student who is struggling with a challenging course, support a colleague who is carrying a heavy load, take extra time with a worried patient or family, or go the extra mile to serve a community that depends on us. These moments may not get recognized, but they are the heart of UNMC.
I am deeply thankful to you, along with all our faculty, staff, learners, alums, NU Foundation colleagues and community partners, for the care you bring to those in need. You make our campuses and clinics places where people feel seen, supported and hopeful.
As you gather with loved ones this Thanksgiving, I hope you take time to reflect on the meaningful contributions you’ve made and the impact you’ve had. Thank you for all you have given this year and for the countless ways you help make UNMC brighter.
