The IRS deadline to submit 2025 Flexible Spending Account claims is Sunday, March 31, 2026. For anyone with a balance remaining in their 2025 Health Care or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, eligible dates of service for expenses are Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2025.
Claims must be submitted to HealthEquity to receive reimbursement. There will be a carryover for the Health Care FSA even though the university will be changing companies to Inspira.
For unused health care amounts in 2025, the maximum amount that can be carried over to the new 2026 account with Inspira is $660. After March 31,the carryover will take place, and account holders will be able to utilize only the funds for 2026 service date claims.
As a reminder, employees enrolled in the University of Nebraska Blue Cross and Blue Shield medical and dental plans for 2025 can access their claims information on the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Nebraska website.
Once logged in, employees can print and save their Explanation of Benefits for the entire year. Employees also can call Blue Cross and Blue Shield Nebraska at 866-926-1498 for a copy of the EOBs for themselves and eligible dependents.
A summary of all prescriptions for the entire year can be obtained through the employee’s pharmacy. However, due to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act guidelines, this request must be made in person.
