University of Nebraska President Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, Nebraska Medicine CEO Michael Ash, MD, and UNMC Interim Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, spoke with the chairs of the UNMC College of Medicine’s clinical departments Thursday evening.

“It was a productive meeting where the chairs and chiefs came together to provide clarity on recent events and to talk about the shared commitment to the future,” Dr. Gold said. He thanked medical center leaders for convening the group.

Other members of Nebraska Medicine’s leadership team, including Kyle Skiermont, PharmD, chief operating officer; Kelly Vaughn, chief nursing officer; Harris Frankel, MD, chief medical and external affairs officer; Stephanie Daubert, chief financial officer; and Anna Cramer, chief people officer and chief legal & compliance officer, also attended.

“It was good to have not just the clinical chairs but also members of the executive leadership of Nebraska Medicine there,” Dr. Davies said. “There is a single vision among the med center’s leaders for the continued momentum and bright future of Nebraska Medicine.”

“Thursday night’s conversations were based on our commitment to our shared mission,” Dr. Ash said. “Throughout the entire process, we have all consistently agreed that Nebraska Medicine is an essential resource for the state and we look forward to our future.”

Dr. Davies said: “Leaders from both UNMC and Nebraska Medicine want to see Nebraska Medicine succeed, and we are united in making that happen.”

The meeting came following the news on Thursday that the University of Nebraska and Clarkson Regional Health Systems had appointed an interim board of Nebraska Medicine, with Dr. Davies as chair.
