What drew you to a career in anesthesiology?

Getting to be there for patients during some of their most vulnerable moments, providing both comfort and reassurance when they need it most. I enjoy getting to perform procedures and apply hands-on skills. I also enjoy the team-based environment and the ability to make rapid, impactful decisions in dynamic situations.

Why I chose UNMC:

The faculty I had the opportunity to interact with during my interview process made a lasting impression on my decision. That, combined with the genuine enthusiasm the residents expressed about the quality of their training, really stood out to me. It was clear they felt supported and challenged in a positive way. Additionally, being close to home at UNMC is a meaningful bonus that makes the program an even better fit for me.

Do you have any specific goals as chief resident?

I hope to continue strengthening the already great culture that makes this program special.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Matching into anesthesia at UNMC.

What is your life like outside of work?

My wife and I love exploring new restaurants in Omaha and spending time with friends and family. I also enjoy spending time outdoors biking, fishing and wake surfing.

Three things people may not know about me:

  • I am a big Iowa Hawkeye fan
  • For most of my life, I thought I was ambidextrous. But it turns out I am just hand confused.
  • If I won the lottery, I would charter a yacht around the Mediterranean.
