‘Impact Shelf’ puts UNMC innovation on display

UNeMed's Impact Shelf

UNeMed recently completed the installation of a display that shows the innovations and products invented at UNMC that have improved lives around the world.

The “Impact Shelf” in UNeMed’s lobby area displays products that have completed the technology commercialization process by reaching the marketplace and directly benefiting patients and consumers.

In addition, the new Startup Wall is a collection of company logos for UNMC startups that have reached a level of success that met UNeMed’s selection criteria. The wall and the inaugural class of 23 startup company logos were revealed at an event July 22.

“The journey from bench to bedside is long, and very few things survive,” UNeMed President and CEO Michael Dixon, PhD, said. “When we moved into this new space at Catalyst, I wanted to find a way to recognize and celebrate the people and innovations that succeed in all the ways that matter. The Impact Shelf and the Startup Wall do exactly that.”

The Impact Shelf is open to anyone who wants to see it. UNeMed’s lobby showcases the Startup Wall and Impact Shelf as permanent and prominent fixtures.

“We’re really proud of our inventors and what they’ve accomplished,” Dr. Dixon said. “This is our way of bragging about their accomplishments and showing everyone just how real their impact can be. So, the companies they create will make our wall, then the products those companies sell will make the shelf.”

The Catalyst building requires badge access, and UNeMed staffers are available to show the Startup Wall and Impact Shelf to anyone interested. Email UNeMed at this link to arrange a time.
