Candidate Taylor Royal tours UNMC

Taylor Royal, left, talks with Jaime Boyko of iEXCEL during his tour.

Taylor Royal of Bennington, who is running for Nebraska Legislative District 18, visited UNMC on July 20.

Royal met with UNMC Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, and toured the Davis Global Center with Jeff Kratz, UNMC’s director of government relations.

Jaime Boyko, community engagement coordinator for iEXCEL, showed Royal the highlights of UNMC’s cutting-edge medical simulation program including the holographic theater, interactive iWall screens and the augmented/virtual reality technologies that provide unique experiential learning opportunities.

Royal pointed to UNMC’s investment in recruiting top talent, saying “We’re dealing with brain drain issues and talking about getting in the best and brightest, and it’s apparent UNMC strives to bring in the best and the brightest.”

Royal praised the faculty, staff and leadership who guided the visit, calling it an impressive look at both the facilities and the work underway at UNMC.

“The faculty, staff and leadership have been fantastic,” Royal said. “A lot of impressive things to see, not only the facility layout, but all the technology and the great work that’s being done here.”
