The UNMC College of Medicine hosted its fourth annual Medical Student Research Showcase on Aug. 21.
Fifty-five medical students took part in the event, which was held at the Davis Global Center. The showcase spotlighted research from UNMC medical students and featured poster presentations across a variety of biomedical, clinical and educational topics.
Kari Nelson, PhD, director of undergraduate research in the UNMC College of Medicine, said the event continues to expand each year, both in the number of student presenters and in the breadth and diversity of research topics represented.
“Feedback from attendees this year consistently highlighted the rigor and quality of the research, as well as the professionalism and sophistication demonstrated in the students’ presentations,” she said.
Dr. Nelson thanked the faculty research mentors, “whose guidance, expertise and mentorship provide students with invaluable opportunities to engage in meaningful scholarly inquiry and help develop their skills as emerging physician-scholars.”
