How I fell in love with biology:
Growing up, I didn’t know that this job existed, but I always was incredibly curious about the natural world. I used to turn over every rock in my parents’ garden looking for critters when I was just 3 or 4 years old, and I was known to bring home the occasional 5-foot-long snake when I got a bit older. So I guess you could say that I fell in love with biology from the start, but it wasn’t until grad school that I realized it could be a realistic career. Safe to say that my parents weren’t too surprised when I chose to study the molecular biology of the Burmese python heart for my postdoc.
