State Sen. Jana Hughes, who is seeking re-election in Legislative District 24, visited UNMC on Oct. 14. The district, in southeast Nebraska, includes Polk, Seward and York counties, as well as part of Butler County.
Hughes started her visit by meeting with UNMC Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, at the Davis Global Center before touring the National Quarantine Unit. The final part of the tour highlighted UNMC’s cutting-edge medical simulation program.
“I don’t know that people realize what we have here in Nebraska with this campus. It’s pretty amazing,” Hughes said. “To come here and see this is fascinating. The economic impact is significant.”
