Annual NuFlex enrollment reaches halfway mark

Stylized type saying

Today marks the halfway point for Annual NuFlex Benefits Enrollment for the University of Nebraska faculty and staff. Enrollment began at 8 a.m. Oct. 26th and will run through 5 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST), Friday, Nov. 13th.

Items that need completed annually during this three-week period are:

  • Updating your tobacco/nicotine designation
  • Enrolling in Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) for 2027
  • Completing the Health Risk Assessment
  • Reviewing your life insurance beneficiaries
  • Verify your Permanent Address

Employees can also review their current benefit elections and make changes for 2027.

Since changes are not allowed throughout the calendar year (with the exception of a few Internal Revenue Service-approved life events), it is imperative that all employees log into Firefly and then go into NuFlex Annual Enrollment to review and/or make desired changes/additions to their current benefits. A confirmation statement is available at the bottom of the module so employees can review their 2027 coverage elections.  The Benefits Office suggests employees either print or save a copy of their confirmation statement, Health Risk Assessment, and Statement of Health (if applicable) for their records.

Below are resources for employees having trouble logging into Firefly:

  • Firefly Helpdesk phone number 402-559-BUZZ (2899)
  • Firefly Helpdesk email unmcfirefly@unmc.edu

The University of Nebraska also put together a comprehensive FAQ, Benefits Enrollment Guide and Employee Checklist.  That resource can be located at Benefits Enrollment Help.

Employees should have also received an email Tuesday, October 22nd from the University of Nebraska Benefits Team.  A NuFlex Benefits newsletter was provided in that email outlining what is new for 2027.  Here is a copy of that newsletter, nuflex-benefits-newsletter.pdf.

Employees are also able to contact the Benefits Office to schedule one-on-one meetings. Meetings can be scheduled via email, benefits@unmc.edu or by calling 402-559-4340.
