Free flu shots for employees start Oct. 6

As fall begins, it’s time to focus on the upcoming influenza season.

No free FluMist for staff

The live attenuated flu vaccine (LAIV, intranasal vaccine, FluMistTM) will not be stocked for routine administration to staff. LAIV is FDA approved for healthy persons aged two to 49.

UNMC encourages everyone to receive a vaccination, with the exception of children less than six months old and those with allergies to eggs.

UNMC will once again offer free flu vaccinations to all employees. The vaccine will be distributed to all patient care areas for staff in those areas in early October.

Employees can receive vaccinations at the following clinics:

  • Oct. 6 — 7 to 9 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m., Private Dining Rooms A and B
  • Oct. 19 — 7 to 9 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m., lower Storz Pavilion 6 and 8
  • Oct. 21 — 7 to 9 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m., lower Storz Pavilion 3 and 4
