Wayne Stubgerg, Ph.D., has been named to the state board of health by Gov. Dave Heineman.
Wayne Stuberg, Ph.D., professor and associate director for education and director of physical therapy and motion analysis lab at the Munroe-Meyer Institute, recently was appointed by Gov. Dave Heineman to the Nebraska State Board of Heath.

UNMC’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation is the first group in Nebraska to launch the American Orthopaedic Association’s Own The Bone Program, a national Web-based quality improvement program designed to better identify, evaluate and treat patients who suffer from an osteoporosis or low bone density-related fragility fracture (a broken bone that results from a fall from standing height or less).

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska has recognized UNMC’s hospital partner, The Nebraska Medical Center, with its Recognition for Quality award. The award stems from the insurance company’s desire to recognize and reward network providers for participation and achievement in certain quality improvement initiatives. The Nebraska Medical Center earned the award for participation in quality initiatives in:

  • Spine Surgery;
  • Knee/Hip Surgery; and
  • Bariatric Surgery.
