Boston Brass, Susie Thorne highlight a busy music week on campus

Music fans can catch a couple free noon performances on campus this week and also get discounted tickets to a Friday night performance by the Boston Brass Quintet and Imani Winds at the Holland Center for the Performing Arts.

Partnership prices

The discount for Friday’s concert at the Holland Center comes thanks to a partnership between the medical center and Omaha Performing Arts that also allows employees to receive benefits such as:

  • The best seats;
  • VIP customer service; and
  • The flexibility of single ticket purchases.

Contact Jessica Brummer at 559-6027 or jbrummer@unmc.edu for more information about the partnership.

The music starts on Thursday at noon as Susie Thorne and her jazz band “friends” kick off the 2010-2011 Music as Medicine Concert Series with a performance in the Durham Outpatient Center West Atrium.

The atrium will be hopping again Friday at noon as the Boston Brass puts on a free show for the campus as a prelude to its concert later that evening with Imani Winds at the Holland Center.

Friday evening’s concert is sponsored by UNMC, The Nebraska Medical Center and UNMC Physicians, and employees can get discounted tickets at www.eventusher.com (use “UNMCTIX” password).

During the evening concert, the two powerful ensembles will join forces to perform a selection of chamber jazz pieces from composers such as Miles Davis and Gil Evans.
