UNMC to Sponsor Sept. 10 Fair for Cancer Patients

The University of Nebraska Medical Center will sponsor a cancer product fair Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the West Atrium in the Outpatient Care Center at 44th and Emile Streets. The fair provides an opportunity for cancer patients to obtain information about medical products, resources and educational materials available.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation and the American Cancer Society are among the 15 companies that will have booths displaying information about their programs and services, such as hair pieces and nutritional supplements.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for cancer patients and their families to educate themselves on the many products designed to make life easier for patients going through cancer,” said Rose Lowitzer of University Hospital’s University Treatment Center and Clinic.

Through its commitment to research, education and patient care, UNMC has established itself as one of the country’s leading centers for and cancer research and treatment and solid organ transplantation. Nearly $25 million in research grants and contracts are awarded to UNMC scientists annually. In addition, UNMC’s educational programs are responsible for training more health professionals practicing in Nebraska than any other institution.
