Grand Rounds to Focus on Morbid Obesity

Morbid obesity will be the topic of an Interdisciplinary Grand Rounds

on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

The RWMC family practice residency program, in conjunction with the University

of Nebraska Medical Centers Colleges of Dentistry and Nursing, are hosting

the event.

This grand rounds, titled The Skinny on Obesity, is the fifth in a

series of Interdisciplinary Grand Rounds. Support for the program is made

available through the UNMC Rural Health Education Network, Regional Wests

Education Department and pharmaceutical companies.

For the Oct. 23 grand rounds, check-in and breakfast will begin at 6:30

a.m., with the sessions to start at 7 a.m. The grand rounds sessions are

accredited for continuing education for physicians, physician assistants

and nurses.

Presenters will include Ludi Papenfus, M.D., statistics, pathophysiology

and diagnosis; Terry Himes, M.D., sleep apnea study; Amber Anderson, pharmacy

student, weight control drugs; and dietician Carolyn Nuss-Warren, wellness/community

resources. All presenters will be available for questions.

Registration deadline for the grand rounds is Friday. Oct. 19. To register
