Registration now is open for the 2022 Midwest Radiation Oncology Symposium, a hybrid symposium that will be hosted by UNMC on Aug. 20 from 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
The hybrid symposium will provide all members of the interdisciplinary oncology team with education and training on recent advances in radiation oncology, physics, and biology. Topics will include the role of emerging technologies in radiation therapy, multidisciplinary cancer care and up-to-date information for referring physicians seeking to transfer their patients to the oncology team.
The symposium is intended for medical physicists, radiation therapists, dosimetrists, physicians, fellows, residents, and students.
Keynote speakers will be:
- Ronald Chen, MD, Joe and Jean Brandmeyer Endowed Professor and chair of the department of radiation oncology at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Dr. Chen's presentation is titled "Current Landscape of Proton Therapy."
- Lei Dong, PhD, professor in the department of radiation oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Dong’s presentation is titled "Current Knowledge and Prospective of FLASH Radiotherapy."

Chi Lin, MD, PhD, professor and vice chair of research in the UNMC Department of Radiation Oncology, is course director of the symposium. The UNMC Center for Continung Education is providing continuing medical education credit for the educational activity.
