UNMC Off The Clock — Dr. Gortmaker runs to the Olympic trials

Valerie Gortmaker’s goal at February’s Tallahassee (Fla.) Marathon was to beat her best time. Not only did she do that, the pediatric psychologist at UNMC qualified for the Olympic trials in April 2008 in Boston.

Washing your hands could save your life. According to Jan Keuchel, infection control specialist at The Nebraska Medical Center, practicing good hygiene is the single most important thing you can do to protect yourself and others from infectious organisms such as influenza.
