Medical students receive residency assignments

Monique Tolston beamed with the news. On Thursday, the single mother of three teenage boys opened the legal sized envelope that determined her future. Tolston was one of the 108 UNMC medical students who participated in the National Resident Matching Program. See story to download a PDF of Match Day results.

White coat ceremonies mark rite of passage

The white coat ceremony is a rite of passage for students beginning their health care careers. Last week, 258 first-year students achieved that milestone in UNMC’s college of dentistry, medicine and pharmacy.

Medical students unveil Match Day destinations

Joel Winner lived up to his name on Match Day. The Lincoln native was all smiles Thursday when he announced he would be going to the University of Hawaii Affiliated Hospitals in Honolulu for his psychiatry residency.

On Thursday, Winner and 103 other members of the UNMC College of Medicine Class of 2004 learned where they would spend the next three to six years doing their residency training. See UNMC Today on Monday for more photos and a complete list of Match Day results.
