Unique islet transplant offers Colorado toddler hope
Three-year-old Berlyn Alfredsen is much like any other little girl. She enjoys wearing her hair in a ponytail. Her eyes light up when she watches her favorite Elmo videos. Unlike other children, though, little Berlyn has spent much of her young life in and out of hospitals. She recently became the youngest patient known to undergo an autologous islet transplant.

Available information must be current and written in a language that is understandable to the average person. To assist in this process, The Nebraska Medical Center will soon rollout a public Web site that will allow the organization to elaborate on our data … that will give potential patients a better idea of the quality of care provided at the medical center.

One last time
College of Pharmacy Dean Clarence Ueda, Pharm.D., Ph.D., leads the college’s class of 2007 through the pharmacist’s oath at Friday’s convocation. Friday marked the final time Dr. Ueda will lead students through their oath as he is stepping down as dean in July after serving in the position for more than 20 years.
